Welcome to Our Community!

"Peace be with you"
(Jn 20:19)

Image of MaxMy name is Maxwendell and I belong to the Shalom Catholic Community. On October of 2008 I was sent in mission to Bournemouth, England, to the Sacred Heart Church. Before that I was living in Rome. I had already been here for a three months period during the last summer, to study English. Ever since I got here I was really pleased by everyone’s hospitality, even in a culture so different from my own. I have been seeing a very alive Church, and it makes me believe that evangelization exists and can still happen nowadays. I enjoy being among the society to evangelize, and especially among the young people. I hope that during my mission here in Bournemouth I may see the fruits that God wants to make grow in this parish and within this pastoral area. You can count on me. Max! Shalom!

Image of CamiloMy name is Camilo Bessoni, and I am 27 years old. It has been a great pleasure to receive this year such a gift from God: being a missionary in Bournemouth. As a member of the Shalom Catholic Community, I am called to be always in mission, and that was the case when I was in my home city, Brasilia, capital of Brazil. Among other activities, such as study and work with Mathematics, I used to give courses of the Catholic faith, quite similar to catechism lessons, and evangelize through dance and theatre. But one important thing God gave me was the grace of working in the evangelization of the youth. In the Sacred Heart Church, where I have been living, I am now responsible for the youth prayer group every Friday, and it has been such a wonderful experience! Of course, it is not easy to get used to another culture, but by the help from my new English friends, brothers and sisters, and from the testimony of my community brother and sister, God gives me the grace to say my YES to Him every day! Shalom!

Who we are

Ministers of Peace

* We serve the Church by means of a consecrated life. We have as our aim the evangelisation and formation of God's children. We are called to be disciples and ministers of Peace; to welcome, to live and to announce to the world the Peace that is Jesus (cf. Ef 2,14).

* The Community was born in the midst of the youth with a desire to evangelise those who were away from God. We transformed a snack bar into a way of attracting them to God. There, they could have a good place to eat and meet people, but they could also pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament and receive prayer as well.

What we do

* Through Evangelisation Centres and specific projects, we penetrate into the heart of society announcing the Word of God and promoting the teaching of the Church

* We organize events to evangelise, such as meetings during festival times, youth camps, Holy Week retreats and congresses.

*  We evangelise through radio stations, monthly magazines, publication of books and other ways in the media
